Who is the ideal actor to play Simon Stuart?

Simon Stuart is the American husband in my novel Laolao’s DragonGate.  The other day, one of my friends popped a question:
“Is the character Simon based on your husband?”
It made me laugh.  Some friends do think my novel is my memoir.  It is not, but some of the facts are based on real life.
How I came up with the name of Simon?  Be honest, I picked the name Simon because I like Simon Baker!
            Wow, Simon Baker!
He is handsome and sexy!  Cool!  Simon Stuart is based on him – blue eyes with blond hair!
My friend laughed – it was her turn!
Then her talk went crazy – who will be the ideal actor to play Simon Stuart?
In my wild imagination, that will be Simon Baker!
My friend didn’t agree – she had another actor.  I believe every reader has a different imagine about Simon Stuart.  What’s yours if my book can be made into a movie?
Read my book and guess it for fun!

Broadcasting your books

My book is like my baby.  Before she was born, I was so excited.  It took me over 18 months to bring her to this wonderful world.

I thought people would love her and chase her, because she is wonderful.  However, the book marketing is much tougher than I expected.

On the Chinese new year's day, I went to a celebration gathering with my book.  I was prepared with a interesting slides show to talk about Chinese new year and my book.  However, I even didn't get a chance to present it to the audience.  Finally I still managed to sell a few copies of my book.  When I signed my name on the book for my fans, I was happy, ... and worried.

I thought more people would follow me, like they did to Amy Tan!

Even a famous author like Amy Tan herself, I guess she still needs to broadcast her books.

Last night, I was in a book signing event at Princeton Library.  The author is Mr. Daniel Stashower.  He is famous too.

He did a good presentation about his book.  His publisher was there for him.  Some of his friends talked about some interesting stories related to his book.

but, I was disappointed because only about thirty people were there.  Mr. Stashower is famous and  seemed very nice too.

Thinking of myself, I am an indie author, no fame, no publishers behind.  How can I get my book known?  I know it's a long way to go.  but I won't lose my heart because I wrote my book from my heart.  I didn't please any groups to fit any genre.  People  living a real life will like my book!

The 2013 Year of Snake (蛇)

One of my friends asked me if the year of Snake was a good year or not. Well, life is like a cycle, you always have your ups and downs in any years. However, if your sign is a Snake, you have to be very careful this year, coz it's your year. So wear a red belt ! it will help.

2013 is the year of the black Snake (蛇)begins on February 10th shortly after the New moon in Aquarius, the humanitarian of the zodiac. This 2013 year of Snake is meant for steady progress and attention to detail. Focus and discipline will be necessary for you to achieve what you set out to create. The Snake is the sixth sign of the Chinese Zodiac, which consists of 12 Animal Signs. It is the enigmatic, intuitive, introspective, refined and collected of the Animals Signs. Ancient Chinese wisdom says a Snake in the house is a good omen because it means that your family will not starve.

Read my novel on Amazon and know more about Chinese traditions. lol.

I wish everyone a lucky new year of Snake!

Self-publishing

I'd like to share an article online about self-publishing:

http://publishersweekly.com/pw/by-topic/digital/conferences/article/54837-at-the-2012-miami-book-fair-self-publishing-takes-center-stage.html

I agree with it 100%. My novel Laolao's DragonGate is self-published on Amazon. My readers told me my book has a high quality as a traditionally published book does. By the way, my editor teaches creative writing in Princeton University. It's so time consuming and impossible to get published by a traditional publisher. They care about genre - sorry, I don't write to please a certain of category; I write from my heart- it's literature should be. I want to send some meaningful message to my readers. I am an underdog, but I want my voice to be heard. So, GO, SEFL-PUBLISHING!

"good wine needs no bush"

酒香不怕巷子深 is a Chinese old saying, which has similar meaning of "good wine needs no bush". Thinking of my own book, this idiom just makes me laugh. I'm so confident my book is a good book (good wine), it's edited by a published author who teaches creative writing in Princeton University. However, it still needs so much broadcasting. Time changes, my friend! If you get a chance, please go to Amazon to test my book. It's a good " wine". Enjoy! LOL
